First, thanks to everyone who contributes pictures, and to everyone who enjoys the site and tells a friend.
Next, we owe a big thanks to www.BrainBashers.com, a great, great site for puzzle lovers of all stripes. Logic riddles, illusions, soduku, brain-teasers and more. They feature a daily WhatCouldIt.Be? puzzle and send us lots of traffic.
This site could not exist without the use of work done by others. At the time of this writing, the majority of the photographs we have were taken from other sites, where they were generously made available for free public use.
The biggest photo site of all, of course, is flickr.com. We have become flickr addicts. Our puzzle selection would be much poorer if not for flickr and its generous and prolific members.
Some other great sites we have borrowed from and wish to thank;
www.PDPhoto.org - free public domain photo database.
www.FeeImages.co.uk - free stock photos.
www.MagazineArt.org - super cool vintage magazine covers.
Wikipedia also has a great reference page for finding public domain images, located here.
So, of course we are very grateful for, and big believers in the public domain, that is works (such as photographs) that are given to the world to use freely, without restriction, and without compensation.
We are big believers also in tools and licenses that facilitate making creative works freely available, such as the Creative Commons, the GNU General Public License, and the BSD License.
Much of the software used to build this site (specifically the awesome YUI javascript library) was written by others and made freely available for people like us to use. Even the majority of the icons we use were created by others (Mark James, Joseph North) and given away.
So, Thanks! We couldn't have done it without you all!
